When speaking at Bob Proctor’s Matrixx last month, Gina gave everyone a card to start the day that said, “It’s the START that STOPS most people.”
It’s a quote by Don Shula and isn’t it true?
Taking that very first step towards something new can feel so heavy.
There is surely no shortage of good ideas, aspirations and goals floating around.
But what happens when we try and take that first step?
Often a mountain of fear appears and stops us in our tracks.
Fear can be such a deterrent in us achieving our potential.
That quote prompted me to re-read Susan Jeffers’ book, “Feel the fear and do it anyway” in conjunction with some work I’m doing on making a difference.
She says, “The only way to feel better about myself is to go out … and do it.”
Aha, “Do the thing and you’ll get the energy to do the thing”. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
It’s sounds like a chicken’n’egg theory but it’s the real deal.
And we get to choose how we work it.
Will it be the “start” or the “stop” that tells our story?
Will we allow fear to paralyze us or will we conquer fear by stepping out of our own way and into our new, powerful selves?
Goals should be scary and exciting all at the same time.
So here’s another thought: could it be that what we’re labelling as fear is actually our internal fire, filled with possibility?
Hmmmm, that sounds like a second “aha”!
Today, let’s hit the new ground running.
