A Human Approach

Aha Moment Monday

Reading time: 20 seconds

What would you do if you won the lottery?
Do you have a plan?

About 70% of lottery winners go broke after winning it big.
Why do you think that is?
My theory is that they weren’t ready.

It’s natural to think in baby steps not quantum leaps.
In fact, it’s easier to see the next step so that’s usually where we set our goals: the next step.
So when the quantum leap arrives (lottery win), we’re not ready.

Same holds true for opportunity.
We ask for opportunity to bestow itself upon us but have we laid the foundation?
Have we seriously dug deeply enough to support what it takes to achieve our biggest vision?

Aha! Little goals require little preparation. Big goals require big preparation.

So how do you start? A. Jackson Brown Jr. gives his advice: “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”
You can’t change the past and the future hasn’t arrived; but TODAY you can do all you can, with what you have, from where you are.

Then, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” Milton Berle
