Have you ever watched a pitcher grip a baseball?

Depending on whether he wants to throw a strike, a sinker, a curve ball or a knuckleball will determine how he positions his fingers around the laces.

One small change in finger position can mean the difference between a 98 mile-an-hour blast straight across the plate to a 78 mile-an-hour wobbler.

In fact the universe is so precise and predictable that the pitcher can accurately predict the outcome of his pitches by his grip.

Aha – one small change in action can yield a huge change in results.

You’ve heard Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity – “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

That IS insane! Yet we get caught in that trap.

If you want something different, doing more of the same actions will simply give you more of what you don’t want!

It sounds so obvious but why do we do it?


It’s uncomfortable to change perspective or create new actions but that’s simply how we get new results.

The important point here, though, is that the change can be ever-so-slight yet the results so significant!

My golf pro – Sean Casey – changed my grip on my driver. Holding the club differently generated a different spin and trajectory giving me much better shots.

An aircraft pilot is constantly correcting his course as just one degree off over the course of the trip could land him several degrees away from his destination.

Putting a comma in this sentence – Let’s eat Grandma – can completely change the meaning! (“Let’s eat, Grandma” would be more like it!)

The challenge with change is that you may not know what that ever-so-slight adjustment is that you need to make to realize massive results.

Here’s a hint: ask someone who is achieving the results you want, then do exactly what they say.
