A Human Approach

Aha Moment Monday

Reading time 49 seconds

Every time I walk by a Salvation Army kettle I deposit $5.

It’s a ritual I started several years ago and I never pass a kettle without donating.

It’s not a huge amount of money but at this time of year when I’m out shopping more than usual, it’s not uncommon to pass two or three kettles in an evening.

I don’t mind, though; in fact I give it freely as I appreciate the work the Salvation Army does and know the money goes to where it’s needed most.

Like you, I have several causes and charities that get my time and financial attention throughout the year.

Some through work and some personally.

With each there is a story to tell because they’re all as unique as my contribution.

If you look at the motivation behind your giving you might think it’s because of alignment or prevention or past experience.

Aha – your deepest motivation comes from a position of ‘gratitude’.

Look at it this way.

When you give to a disease centre it might be out of gratitude that you’ve overcome the disease.

When you give to the food bank it’s likely in gratitude that you have enough to eat.

When you give to the Humane Society it’s perhaps your gratitude for the compassionate individuals who rescue and care for innocent pets.

Gratitude keeps us connected.

It’s a great motivator and reminder of the abundance we do enjoy.

Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow……..
