A Human Approach

Aha Moment Monday

Reading time 33 seconds

On Saturday morning I took a last stroll along the Bermuda beach before it was time to head home. I walked on the edge of the sand where the water washes up then retreats. Each time it washed up it filled in my footprints from earlier leaving freshly groomed sand.

Aha. Isn’t this a lot like forgiveness?

When you forgive you clean the slate.

This was on my mind with the passing of Nelson Mandela, the master of forgiveness. He said, “Hatred clouds the mind. It gets in the way of strategy. Leaders cannot afford to hate.” So he forgave.

In the practice of forgiveness it’s also important that we forgive ourselves, keep our slates clean and our minds clear. That allows us to lead being open to infinite possibility.

Walks along the beach are good for the soul.
