Aha Moment Monday.
It’s easy to take small things for granted because, after all, they’re small!
If they’re small they must not have much significance, right?
Not so fast.
Driving today, we realized how many drivers don’t use turn signals, like if they want to change lanes or pull into the plaza in front of you.
Flipping on a turn signal is a small thing that makes a big difference in allowing you to plan your drive.
(Of course there are the people who drive for miles with their turn signal on, but we’ll save them for another Aha)
Watching the BMW championships I marveled at the golfers who drive the ball over 300 yards.
Also worth noting is that a 1” putt counts for the same number on the score card – 1 stroke – as the 300 yard drive
The 1” putt is a small thing but sinking it can make a big difference to the outcome
Getting your message across requires good communication skills, especially in the form of punctuation.
In a text that says, “Let’s eat, Sally!”, omitting the comma to suggest, “Let’s eat Sally!” delivers a completely different meaning!
The comma is a pretty small thing that makes a big difference in the message you deliver.
Aha – “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” ~ Mother Teresa
Saying, “thank you”, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, reading five extra pages, calling ahead, commenting on a post, responding to an invitation, following up, bringing Timmies, staying to watch your kid’s lesson, listening, and of course, using your turn signal, might sound like small things but in the grand scheme can have a profound effect.
After all, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together”. ~ Vincent Van Gogh
And we all know you absolutely own greatness.
