Freedom

Aha!  Moment Monday

What does “freedom” mean to you?

Does it have to do with openness of space or access, that you feel free when you can go about as you please?

Does it have to do with earning, that you feel free when you have autonomy and liberty to create self-sufficiency?

Does it have to do with your beliefs, that you feel free when you are given the prerogative to openly revere your source?

Does it have to do with expansion, that you feel free when there is no ceiling to what you can learn, achieve or become?

Does it have to do with expression, that you feel free when you have the latitude and flexibility to say, write, read, or share your thoughts, ideas and questions?

This week we will pause to honour those who served and continued to serve, in war, military conflict, and international peacekeeping activities. We will remember those who lost their lives fighting for our sovereignty and cherish those suffered in the pursuit of human dignity and freedom.

If we choose not to remember, then their fight was meaningless.

Is this also a time when we open our minds and our hearts to recognize and appreciate those who fight a daily war to keep our freedom alive?

Aha!  ~ “There is no such thing as a little freedom. You are either all free or you are not free.  ~ Walter Cronkite

Perhaps we need to remind ourselves of what freedom means …

  • the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
  • the power of self-determination attributed to the will; the quality of being independent of fate or necessity.
  • familiarity or openness in speech or behavior.

… and not be afraid to question when your freedom is being challenged.

Prepare yourself for when the clock strikes 11:00 on the 11thto take your moment of silence to remember, in love and gratitude, those who sacrificed and sacrifice. Then take another few moments to crystallize in your mind and heart, your vision and how you feel when you are truly free.

The secret to happiness is freedom and the secret to freedom is courage.
