It’s All About Perspective

Aha Moment Monday

I pulled a bottle of Kefir from the fridge to add to my smoothie and it had expired.

I added some protein powder but it wasn’t the same.  Kefir is back on the shopping list.

Then I read an article that said mayonnaise shouldn’t be kept more than a few months once it’s opened and that nuts, because of their oils, lose their freshness in about the same amount of time.

And so much for keeping a first aid kit current.  Fortunately we rarely open it but the last time we did, the ointment in there had expired as well.

I went to pick up some new golf balls with a coupon I was saving.  When I got to the check-out counter,  I realized it, too, had expired.

When you’re busy, days and weeks seem to slip by so quickly that expiry dates just come and go!

The good news is that the dates are stamped in a prominent place.  Be it milk or medication, the “best before…” date is clearly visible.  The older the product, the less likely it is to be optimum.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that we don’t know our personal expiry date?

We all have one – there are only so many grains of sand in the hour glass – but does that “best before…” date being a mystery cause us to mentally wrongly position our optimum level?

Do we allow our age, another individual or society to influence when our “best” actually is?

Aha – “It doesn’t matter where you are, you are nowhere compared to where you can go.”  ~ Bob Proctor

Every experience you endure, every person with whom you converse, every chance you take on yourself,  creates your NEW best self.

The Dalai Lama reminds us, “The goal is not to be better than the other man, but your previous self.”

It’s all about Perspective.
