Aha Moment Monday
How often are successful people cited as being lucky?
âHe was lucky because his parents had money.â âShe was lucky because she had natural talent.â âThey were lucky because …â, well, fill in the blanks.
If youâve ever been âluckyâ, and I imagine you have, then you know how it feels to be proclaimed as âluckyâ.
Truth is, Â âLuck is when preparedness meets opportunity.â
In Hollywood they call it a â20-year overnight successâ; they invested 20 years preparing then, one day, they stepped into the spotlight.
Oprah Winfrey, J.K Rowling, LeBron James, Henry Ford, Celine Dion, Steve Jobs, Sam Walton, Andrew Carnegie, and Michael Oher are a few of the âluckyâ ones. They, too, had modest or humbling starts yet through belief and application, they rose to success.
Now, itâs a common saying that opportunity only knocks once.
Is that true?
Doesnât that instill some fear that if our ship comes in, and weâre at the airport, that we might miss our big opportunity?
Aha â opportunity is everywhere all the time!
Hereâs the thing. Opportunity doesnât always present itself until youâre ready, or put another way, you donât see the opportunity until youâve grown into it.
And the first opportunity you see might not be your opportunity anyway!
âKnowing that opportunity isnât a once-in-a-lifetime event gives you the confidence to explore your options and to keep your mind open to new opportunities. You realize that the chances have been there all along; you simply havenât seen them.â  ~Richard Carlson, Ph.D. Author: Donât Worry, Make Money
There are always new problems to solve, new stages being built, new partnerships being formed, new products being developed, new technologies being invented, and new markets opening up.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build your talent then, simply show up….eyes wide open, of course.
Be your own four-leaf clover.
