The Value Of Light

Aha!  Moment Monday

Do you receive regular market feeds that update you on the value of your home?

Another house on my street went up for sale this week and while it’s a different style and size than mine, with a different exposure and amount of area around it, I suppose that listing is one indicator of what my home might be worth.

I have been in my home for 15 years and the price tag has tripled from what I paid for it yet I find it interesting that in the same time frame, salaries haven’t tripled, the cost of milk hasn’t tripled and I change up my car every three years when the lease is due and my car price hasn’t tripled.

Value is an interesting concept.

Cash money is simply ink on paper yet one day our Canadian dollar can be worth 75 cents against the American green back and another day be worth 90 cents. Same dollar, different value.

One hundred people can each spend $1000 on the same seminar, receive the same information, yet the R.O.I. for each be drastically different. Same seminar, different value.

You are used to receiving free legal advice from your brother-in-law who is paid $480 an hour by a waiting list of clients. Same information, different value.

The value of money or commodities or your business might change, but what about the value of good relationships, with others and with yourself? The value of the quality air you breathe, the food you eat and the restorative sleep you deserve? What about your own personal value? Is any of that up for negotiation?

Aha! ~ “Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.”  Dalai Lama

Times change, things change, people change, but the constant by which all of your decisions and actions stem, is your values….especially the value in which you hold yourself.

Trading down is never an option.

When the ego (which stems from fear) challenges your spirit (which is fuelled by love), intercept that conversation holding tight to your values without compromise, pressure, anxiety or concern. Doing the right thing, regardless of circumstances or appearances, is always the right thing.

“It’s during our darkest moments that we must focus on the light.” ~ Aristotle
