A Human Approach

Twenty-minute Miracle

Aha!  Moment Monday

Einstein’s Theory of Relativity encompasses two interrelated theories; one in the absence of gravity and one explaining the law of gravity and its relation to other forces of nature.

The point of the theory is that there is no fixed frame of reference in the universe.  Everything is moving relative to everything else.

Here’s my real-life version of the Theory of Relativity.  While one minute – 60 seconds – is the same amount of time no matter how you spend it, 60 seconds of push-ups feels considerably l-o-n-g-e-r than a 60-second hot stone massage.  It’s the same 60 seconds but the perceived duration factor is relative to how the minute is experienced!

Time is a perception.  We say things like, “I’m so busy”, “I have no time” or “I’d like to pause time so I can catch up” but in essence we all have the same 24 hours in a day, right?

Here’s a thought.  What if you stopped doing something – cold turkey – that consumes even 20 minutes of precious time daily; something that delivers little value?  Twenty minutes of say idle chatter, mindless surfing, or a chore or task that someone else could do better?  Can you identify something you are willing to release that you know is slowing you down vs. propelling you forward?

Then, what if you chose to invest that time in something that would give you more freedom, more accolades, more money or more enjoyment?  Twenty minutes a day X 365 days is more than 121 hours!  Could you see how one small change over 121 hours would be advancing?

Aha!  ~ Leave footprints not butt prints

While I’m not sure there is such a thing as work-life balance – it’s more of an ongoing integration process – “busy” can be the fear of success talking and standing in the way of you carving time for what’s really important.

Sometimes you need to stand up for your goals and aspirations, reassess “busy-ville”, and put quality time back in your tank.

The gas is on the right.
