A Human Approach

Those water cooler conversations could be making you fat

Aha Moment Monday

Did you know that gossip can make you gain weight?

Here’s the logic.

Gossip is typically negative and is often born of something that is making us uneasy or stressed. When we’re uneasy or stressed, we release cortisol – the “stress hormone” – into our blood stream. Stress, especially long-term, chronic stress, actually boosts your hunger and when you’re stressed you release more cortisol. That causes higher insulin levels. Your blood sugar drops and you crave sugary, fatty foods.

“More stress = more cortisol = higher appetite for junk food = more belly fat,” says Shawn M. Talbott, PhD, a nutritional biochemist.

The correlation between gossip and weight gain goes even deeper than that.

You know that we’re “energy beings”, right??
Well, negative words carry a lower vibration compared to positive words that have a high vibration.

“Our energy can move at a very high vibrational frequency which will bring us more health, happiness and prosperity, or at a very low vibrational frequency, which will bring us the opposite.” ~ Andrea Schulman, creator of “Raise Your Vibration Today”.
So the water cooler conversations are self-sabotaging?

Aha – Be good to yourself by saying good about others

According to Schulman, other symptoms that your vibration might be low include insomnia, frequent accidents, poverty, multiple injuries, dysfunctional relationships and even dandruff!
And it all stems from your vibrational state.

Now, there are a number of things that can affect your vibration but your thoughts, and the words you use to express them, are definite contributors. Schulman says that symptoms of low vibration, “…are simply signs that are meant to show you that you are in a disconnected state, nothing more.”

Apparently releasing negativity and going with the flow a bit more, puts you in harmony with the health, prosperity and great relationships you’re seeking!

Look for the good stuff. You’re worth it.
