Aha! Moment Monday
What’s plugged into your computer? Speakers? Light? Another device you’re charging?
My lap top is giving charge to an essential oil diffuser.
My new favourite blend is called “determination” (I know … watch out, right?) It’s a hypnotic, tropical blend that’s designed to help “…stay grounded and positive in a world of ever-increasing demands and pressures.” Chaos can take its toll and make it difficult to stay focused and on purpose. Any natural edge to confidently make a positive impact and create a great day is worthy of my investigation.
Now I say “natural” because I was raised by a mom who made everything from scratch and so boldly served watermelon at a time when you were a “cool mom” if you served Twinkies® (… and with all those preservatives we still called them “treats”!)
That age was about convenience. We concocted frozen dinners from a blend of mass-produced foods combined with chemicals and preservatives to give them taste, colour and staying power. (Conversely my mom’s idea of convenience was to make a salad and casserole in the morning and preset the oven for when we got home from school).
This quick-fix led society to adopt reactive vs. proactive health practices – when something’s wrong you take a pill vs. protecting your health in advance – and this philosophy is engrained to such a degree that it’s an often uncontested habit. And now we pay.
Does progress require us to discard old judgement and practice? Can changing for change sake throw the baby out with the bath water and actually complicate things?
Aha! ~ “Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.” Martin Luther King, Jr
…or as coined in the 1960’s, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Stupid Simple) to avoid complexity.
“The sad aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” ~ Isaac Asimov.
We’ll not only find wisdom in tablets and documentations from thousands of years ago; we’ll find inherent wisdom in nature itself. You see even though an apple and a single serving size of apple crisps contain a similar number of calories, the body knows exactly what to do with an apple. It recognizes it and assimilates it as fuel. The chips? Likely stored as toxins in fat cells.
The seed of an oak tree doesn’t contain an oak tree it contains the wisdom to build an oak tree. Given the right circumstances – earth, water and sunshine – it grows to its greatest height and strength.
When you remove toxins from your life and give yourself what resonates – naturally – you like the oak tree, will flourish. Given your gift of “intellect” you know exactly what that looks like … for you.
Plug in to great health … for goodness sake
